Bill Mosienko
Bill Mosienko is the owner of Mosienko Player Development and a veteran hockey coach with more than 25 years of experience developing players from foundational levels through AAA, including teams that have advanced to the USA Hockey National Championships.
His approach is built on a clear philosophy: process first, results follow. Players reach their potential when the foundation of their game is built correctly and developed with purpose over time.
Skating and edgework are the foundation of everything in hockey. Development begins with edge control, balance, posture, weight distribution, and transfer — the mechanics that allow a player to move efficiently and stay in control as the game speeds up. Most players never fully learn how to use their edges properly; they learn to work around limitations instead of through them. That ultimately impacts confidence, puck control, and decision-making.
Coach Mosienko’s teaching combines principles from the North American development model with skating and edgework concepts drawn from both Eastern and Western European development philosophies. These approaches emphasize building proper technique and control first, then layering in speed, complexity, and game demands over time. Edgework is not rushed — it is developed progressively, starting with balance and mechanics and advancing as the player is ready.
When that foundation is in place, training expands into puck skills — passing, puck control, puck protection, and shooting mechanics — along with positioning, timing, and the ability to execute under pressure. The speed of a player’s legs, hands, and mind must work together. Hockey IQ, mental habits, and focus are developed through this process, not treated as separate elements.
Every session is structured with intent and connected back to real game situations. The focus is on building habits that transfer — not just completing drills.
This is how confidence is built.
This is how consistency develops.
And this is how players prepare for the next level.
Coach Mosienko’s approach reflects a long-term view of development. Real progress is not always immediate — players often build skill and understanding beneath the surface before it becomes visible in games. When proper habits are established early, players gain efficiency and confidence as the game speeds up. When those habits are missed, players often develop compensations that are difficult to correct later.
Mosienko Player Development is designed for players who are committed to improving — those who value detailed instruction, proper development, and a structured process over shortcuts.
